Bridgeway’s Somerset County ARRIVE Together program uses a co-response model to address behavioral health crises in the community.
A licensed mental health clinician and a Crisis Intervention Team-trained police officer respond together to mental health-related calls in an unmarked police vehicle. This approach helps create a less stigmatizing and more supportive response.
The team focuses on de-escalation, stabilization and immediate assistance, with the goal of connecting individuals to appropriate care while reducing unnecessary hospitalization or involvement in the criminal justice system.
How the Somerset County Team Helps
The team may provide:
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation
- On-site assessment and stabilization
- Connections to mental health and behavioral health services
- Follow-up support after the initial call
- Connections to case management and community resources
- Assistance related to housing instability
- Grief and emotional support
- Support with family or interpersonal conflicts
How It Works
When a 911 call involving a behavioral health crisis is received, a Crisis Intervention Team-trained officer and a Bridgeway mental health clinician may respond together.
The team works to stabilize the situation, assess immediate needs and connect the individual to appropriate support. Assistance may be provided during the initial response or through a follow-up visit.
